Ivey issues statement supporting Trump's SCOTUS nominee

Montgomery, Ala. - Governor Kay Ivey issued a statement in support of Amy Coney Barrett, current judge on the US Court of Appeals Seventh Circuit and nominee for the Supreme Court Justice. President Donald Trump announced Barrett as his nominee on Saturday to replace former Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died September 18 at the age of 87.

The confirmation process is expected to begin Oct. 12. Although Senator Richard Shelby applauded Trump for the nomination, he did not remark on the timing of the confirmation vote. Senator Doug Jones stated he will not support a confirmation vote occurring before the Nov. 3 election.
