Healthy Food Financing Program now accepting applications

A $200,000 fund dedicated to increasing healthy food options in Alabama’s underserved neighborhoods is now accepting applications.

In its fourth round, the Healthy Food Financing Program—which is administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs—provides one-time funding for nonprofits, elected officials, businesses, and other interested groups to expand the food retail market in their communities.

Qualified projects include farmers markets, food banks, mobile grocery vans and other venues that will provide healthy food choices to residents in low-income areas.

The application deadline for Healthy Food Financing Program is February 1, 2021. For more information and to access the application, visit the ADECA website.
